Neither the feat, nor the vigil, nor any effort saves man, but the humbleness of the mind.
There was one desert-hermit (ascetic) who struggling with the demons asked them:
-How do you cast yourselves out, with fasting? And they told him:
–We neither eat nor drink.
-With a vigil? They replied: – We do not sleep.
-With a solitary life in the desert? – We live in the deserts.
-How are you exiled then?
They said: – Nothing can beat us except humility.
Do you see that the humility is the winning weapon against the demons.
