Self-elevation is alienation from God – St. Dimitry of Rostov

1505

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you the rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”.  (Matthew 11; 28-29).

Nowhere you will find calmness, except in the humility, and nowhere you would find such concerns as in the pride.

If you desire peace and tranquillity – be humble; and if it’s not so – then you will pass your entire life in restlessness, suffering and pain, and you will never stop falling.

Calm yourself in front of all, to be elated by God.  Your self-elevation will be sad, if you are not elated by God, because your elevation is alienation from God, and God’s elevation is in His Grace.

As long as you elevate yourself – God will humiliate you, and as long as you humiliate yourself – God will elevate you.

But if God elevate you – even then stay humble to be always elevated by the Lord.

Humble yourself before the Lord, and He will lift you up”, – The Apostle says. (James,4.10)
